Day 8 – Minjung Choi

1. What do you do for a living? (occupation/field of study).

I am a student. I’m currently taking prerequisites to apply for a dental hygiene program.

2. How do you like to spend your free time?

I like to read and watch dramas whenever I have time.

3. Share one interesting fact about you that most people don’t know!

I like to collect cute stationary items that I do not use.

4. Do you have a favorite book in the Bible? If you do, which one is it and why?

My favorite book in the Bible is 1 Corinthians. To me this book serves as a guideline of how I should live as a Christian in my daily life. I also like how 1 Corinthians focuses on how important love is. I do believe that whatever we do or say, it should be based on love for it says, “And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.” (1 Corinthians 13:2).

5. Is there a verse/passage in the Bible that has significantly impacted your life? If so, which is it and why?

John 16:33 “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”. I know that I will face many hardship in life, but this verse reminds me to have peace for my God is a powerful God who is in control.

6. Is there a prayer request that has been on your heart recently? If so, please share with us.

Please pray for me to have more faith to believe that God is in control. Also for my heart to be genuine for God.

7. Tell us about how you met Christ? (feel free to share a brief testimony).

Growing up, I was always forced to go to church because of my grandmother. Although I attended church and even served at church, I didn’t know who God really was. I always questioned God’s existence. If God was real, why would he make me go through all these sufferings? Everyone says that God is a loving God, but why is He being so harsh on me? I just couldn’t believe it without seeing it with my own eyes. So, I left God and left church.

But God somehow unexpectedly led me back to church and showed me that He has been there for me all the time, even the times when I thought I was alone. God revealed to me how much he loves me even though I was questioning His existence. That’s when I realized that I cannot ever leave God's presence because now I know that He is a loving God who loves me and will bring me back to His presence.
