Day 5 – Shelley Chun
1. What do you do for a living? (occupation/field of study).
Student, speech-language pathology
2. How do you like to spend your free time?
Resting at home, spending time with loved ones
3. Share one interesting fact about you that most people don’t know!
My close friends know how much of a terrible texter I am, but when I do text, I love to express myself through memes and GIFs.
4. Do you have a favorite book in the Bible? If you do, which one is it and why?
Not at the moment.
5. Is there a verse/passage in the Bible that has significantly impacted your life? If so, which is it and why?
Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
When I experienced God’s love through breakthrough and healing surrounding a certain sin, Galatians 2:20 was at the core of that peace and comfort. Through this verse, I was able to wholeheartedly accept that God is truly Emmanuel. My gratitude towards God led to action. Long story short— God called me to share my struggles and His unwavering love and forgiveness with my entire church community in Binghamton, and I did so willingly and joyfully. I share this only to highlight and testify how amazing God is in changing people’s hearts. If you know me, you know how stubborn I can be. I am not easily convinced into doing things that make me uncomfortable, and this is a prime example of a situation I would not place myself in on my own accord. It was truly God who softened my heart, and I believe His glory was magnified that night because He was with me throughout.
5. Is there a prayer request that has been on your heart recently? If so, please share with us.
1. For a heart that genuinely wants to please God.
2. To be more prayerful.
6. Tell us about how you met Christ? (feel free to share a brief testimony).
I knew God was real because I saw how clearly He was moving in the lives of those around me, but for the longest time He never felt near or personal to me. I realized I would say I wanted a relationship with Him but do nothing to actively seek Him. Very gradually, by the grace of God, He gave me faith and assurance through scripture and answering my prayers that He was always and continues to be near and intentional with me.
