Day 28 - Paul Choi
Is there a specific Bible passage or verse that comes to mind in the context of “Less of Me and More of Him”?
Psalm 34:9 ”Oh, fear the Lord, you his saints, for those who fear him have no lack!“
Fearing the Lord implies shifting my focus to God’s ability and character. This includes turning my attention away from my fears and worries that result from a lack of thinking. If I think and remember who God is and how it costs everything to follow Him, I get what I long for peace, contentment, and purpose, without the burden of attaining that with my power.
Briefly explain which areas of your life you find most difficult to surrender to Christ.
I have a picture in my mind of where and who I want to be in the future. I find surrendering that to be difficult and am even greatly discouraged when it often seems to be going in the opposite direction. I often sing about how God works all things for my good, but this is sometimes difficult to believe. However, I know God does the impossible and will do what is best for me.
Share the areas of your life that have shifted from self-centeredness to Christ-centeredness.
I know I am shifting to Christ-centeredness in many areas of my life such as how I process my thoughts, work, marriage, and friendships. However, like watching a clock tick, it is a slow-moving process that often frustrates me.
What are some practical ways you can display Christ to those around you?
Thinking about others more than myself in any given situation is not my first instinct. But I want to ask myself, “How can I serve this person in a way that makes God happy?” This would help me show a quintessential characteristic of Christ.
